A Friday Eye Opener

It is amazing how one decision can change the course of your life.

This morning I decided to take an earlier train to work. This decision changed the course of my day, my weekend and potentially my life. The train that I was going to take derailed and crashed, resulting in a death and potentially more injuries. The story is still developing.

After I got over the initial shock and depression about the situation and the people injured, I started to feel a little helpless.

Are we all bound to the decisions we make or is there some greater reason why things happen?

Maybe I am thinking a little too cosmically, I saw THOR last night, but for me, this morning was proof that there is something greater up there. Yes, we are masters of our own decisions and the choices we make are our own, however, this morning showed me that I do have guardian angels looking out for me. Never stop being thankful for what you have and the life that you own.

Praying for all those on the Metra 636 this morning.

She got the call today
One out of the gray
And when the smoke cleared
It took her breath away
She said she didn’t believe
It could happen to me
I guess we’re all one phone call from our knees

Summer is in the air

With all this beautiful weather happening in Chicago, you can feel the summer anticipation in the air. Patio furniture is being arranged, you can smell fertilizer and flowers in the air and people are running all over the place. Is it just me or is everyone a little bit nicer when they aren’t freezing cold? My summer plans include putting in overtime at work, putting in overtime at the beach and working on my tennis and cooking skills. Oh and training for that 26.2 mile run this fall!

What are your summer plans?

What I have been up to:

My friends and I went to Arlington Park Racetrack this weekend to celebrate the Kentucky Derby. We saw some beautiful horses, indulged in Mint Juleps and did a little betting. Life is too short. I bet $20 on Nehro and lost it all. At least my hat was fabulous?

What I am thankful for this week:

Amazing song from Martin Solveig featuring Dragonette- Hello

Crystal Light lemonade packets– perfect for these hot days

My favorite running partner– my Dad

Derby hats and sundresses

Visiting my best friend in Des Moines this weekend

This nail polish from the new OPI, Pirates of the Caribbean Collection- Mermaid Tears. Can’t get enough.
